Partial list of accomplishments of the Port Jefferson Village Parking Dept, - 2017 to April 2024
● Created branded signage look for all lots with quick changeable riders
● Brought 'pay by cell' to new heights , even before the pandemic - Went from 1⁄2 of 1% of parking sessions by cell to as much as 81% today.
● Because of the high success of digital revenue - we were able to reduce meter count from 23 to 12, ridding meters installed prior to 2010 that were running on just solar and/or problematic. Saving maintenance, labor, parts and paper costs on removed meters.
● Implemented 'first of its kind', parking ambassador program
● Co-designed and oversaw build out of the first new parking lot in 50 years (Barnum Parking Lot)
● Supported keeping the BARNUM lot free for the use of employees of local businesses.
● Negotiated agreement with private property owner for use of lot as a public municipal lot - also helping greatly with making available free employee parking.
● Installed lot counters and Barnum and CVS lots -greatly increasing awareness
of where one can find a space to park.
● Installed (first village to do so) 3 chargepoint charging stations, promoting those that charge to also spend time and shop in town.
● Researched then replaced outdated FBS enforcement handhelds - went to state of the art t2 communication handheld systems, for the first time, admin had cloud access to all reports and details of enforcement.
● Researched, then installed ALPR technology in patrol car - The ALPR is tied into the meters, pay by cell , handhelds and all officers, court and admin.
● Founded ‘first of its kind, TEXT TO HELP system , giving out parking policy information, court dates, ferry information, brookhaven parking info, timed street parking, events and transportation info and much more.
● Managed procurement process to purchase, update and install 10 new meters in 2018
● Introduced unique signs at side of meters - high visibility and behavior changing results
● Introduced double sided cards at meters and kiosks that are distributed in weather proof plastic boxes - giving out parking lot maps and event schedule for the year.
● Gave businesses the opportunity to have employees scan in parking session so businesses can be billed the end of the season
● Parking admin was voted VP of the NYS Parking and transportation Association
● Placed security cameras in every parking lot for safety concerns and to cover where most accidents or incidents happen.
● Introduced and managed private/public parking lot agreements.
● Metered upper Port for the first time, allowing spill over commuters alternative parking also disuading apartment residents visitors from parking in the Perry lot and instead using streets or south LIRR lot.
● Designed, launched and managed successful micro transit service.
